Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, with Eid Al Fitr expected on 9 or 10 March, according to astronomical projections reported by The National. The exact dates depend on moon sighting. For D2C brands in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, that puts the main planning window in December and January, much earlier in the calendar than in recent years.
This playbook covers how shopping changes during the month, what the 2026 data showed, and a week-by-week plan for acquisition, offers, content, operations and retention.
Quick answer
Start Ramadan 2027 preparation in December 2026 and launch pre-Ramadan campaigns in early January 2027. Shift ad budgets and email or WhatsApp sends to the evening after iftar and to late night, when online spending peaks. Plan gifting and Eid collections for the last ten days, lock delivery cut-offs early, and keep the customers you acquire with a post-Eid retention flow.
1. Ramadan 2027 key dates
These dates are projections and will be confirmed by moon sighting.
Ramadan expected to start: around 8 February 2027
Ramadan expected to end: 8 or 9 March 2027, after 29 or 30 days
Eid Al Fitr expected: 9 or 10 March 2027
Because the Islamic calendar moves about 10 to 12 days earlier each year, Ramadan 2027 falls in the UAE's cooler months, soon after New Year sales. Speaking to Khaleej Times after Ramadan 2026, the general manager of ACE at Al-Futtaim Retail said he expected pre-Ramadan campaigns to start from the first week of January 2027, as Ramadan preparation overlaps with the post-New Year home refresh.
2. How shopping changed in Ramadan 2026
Several reports from 2026 point in the same direction: fewer, larger and later purchases.
Spending moves to the evening and night
Fortis data reported by Khaleej Times found UAE shoppers concentrated spending into two windows, a main peak after iftar between 9pm and 11pm and a smaller midday burst between 12pm and 2pm. The same report cited Visa analysis showing the share of Ramadan spending between 10pm and 4am more than doubled in markets such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
Gulf News reported MEmob and YouGov tracking that put 24% of digital engagement between 2am and 4am, before suhoor.
Order values went up
Fortis reported average order values up by around 10%, with shoppers making fewer but more premium, purpose-driven purchases. Fashion, especially abayas and modestwear, was the top category, with weekend spikes tied to gatherings and Eid preparation.
Home, food and gifting led
Al-Futtaim retailers told Khaleej Times that kitchenware, dinnerware and outdoor hosting products drove sales at ACE, and that Marks & Spencer food sales in the UAE rose more than 20%. Several retailers described an uplift in online sales closer to Eid as buying shifted to gifts.
Shoppers will switch brands for a better offer
YouGov research reported by Gulf News found 17% of UAE consumers said they switch brands when they find better offers or bundles during Ramadan, and 37% typically use TikTok between 7pm and 10pm during the month.
3. Phase one: preparation (December 2026)
Most of the work that decides Ramadan results happens before the month starts.
Review last Ramadan's data by hour, day and product: when orders came in, which products sold, what the average order value was
Choose a small number of hero products and bundles for each phase of the month, including a gifting range for the last ten days and Eid
Order stock early and leave a buffer for supplier and freight lead times. Running out during the last ten days is costly
Brief Arabic and English creative now. Ramadan creative should feel respectful and specific to the month, not a reused sale banner
Check site speed, checkout and payment options, including cards, wallets, buy now pay later and cash on delivery where you offer it
Confirm courier capacity and agree delivery cut-off dates for Eid with your fulfilment partners
4. Phase two: pre-Ramadan (January to early February 2027)
This is when shoppers plan. They are buying for hosting, for the home, for modest fashion and for gifts they will give later.
Launch awareness and consideration campaigns in early January, aimed at preparation needs
Build audiences you can retarget during the month: site visitors, video viewers, email and WhatsApp subscribers
Publish Ramadan landing pages and gift guides early so they can be indexed and start ranking before demand peaks. Our D2C SEO services cover seasonal pages like these
Collect email and WhatsApp opt-ins with an early access list for Ramadan collections
5. Phase three: the first two weeks of Ramadan
Daily routines change on day one. Working hours are shorter and activity moves to the evening.
Move ad budget toward the evening and late-night windows. Review hourly performance in the first few days and adjust bids and schedules
Send email, SMS and WhatsApp messages after iftar, not in the morning
Keep creative warm and calm. Family, hosting, generosity and reflection fit the month better than hard discount messaging
Use bundles and value packs rather than deep discounts. The 2026 data showed shoppers responding to purpose-driven, higher-value purchases
Watch break-even ROAS closely. More brands compete for the same evening hours, which can push up costs. Our guide to break-even ROAS for GCC brands shows how to set a floor
6. Phase four: the last ten days and Eid gifting
Demand shifts from the home to gifts, outfits and Eid preparation.
Switch hero products to gifting ranges and Eid collections
Show delivery cut-off dates clearly on product pages, cart and checkout, by emirate and by country
Offer gift wrapping, gift messages and delivery to a different address
Run your strongest offers in this window if you plan to discount at all
Prepare customer service for higher volumes and delivery questions, including in Arabic
7. Phase five: Eid and after
Eid Al Fitr is a short holiday. The customers you acquired during Ramadan are the asset to protect.
Send thank-you and order follow-up flows after Eid
Ask for reviews from Ramadan buyers while the purchase is recent
Start replenishment or cross-sell flows for products with repeat potential
Measure Ramadan performance on new customers and contribution, not just revenue
Our retention and lifecycle service builds these flows so Ramadan customers buy again later in the year.
8. UAE vs Saudi Arabia differences
The two markets follow the same calendar but should not share one plan.
Saudi Arabia usually needs Arabic-first creative and landing pages, with VAT at 15% instead of 5%
Delivery times from the UAE into Saudi Arabia are longer, so Eid cut-offs need to be earlier
Visa's data on late-night spending was strongest in Saudi Arabia, so ad scheduling may need to run later than in the UAE
Our page on D2C growth in Saudi Arabia and our GCC localization service cover the details.
Final thoughts
Ramadan 2027 arrives early in the year, which shortens the gap between New Year and the start of the month. The brands that do well will plan stock, creative and delivery in December, start campaigns in early January, match their marketing to the evening and night, and turn Ramadan buyers into repeat customers after Eid.
